Obituary Kathleen “Kathy” Frances Gerlach 73, of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at United Hospital Center with family by her side. She was born on August 25, 1949 in Peoria, IL the daughter of the late Bernard J and Frances Irene McCabe Heine. Kathy graduated from Bergan High School in Peoria, IL and Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. She worked as a social worker and for H&R Block in her earlier years and retired from the US Treasury as a specialist with the IRS. She enjoyed bird watching, shopping, going out for ice cream, and she had a soft spot for animals especially her cat, Mila. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Kathy is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Milton Frederick “Fred” Gerlach whom she married on October 8, 1988; children, Sarah A Morrison and Justin, Clarksburg, Amanda S Williamson, Boston, MA, Janice L Gerlach and Noam Blanks, New York City, NY, Michael Gerlach and Lynn, Peoria, IL; siblings, Greg Heine and Debbie, Colorado Springs, IL, Anne Moretto, Cincinnati, OH, Joseph Heine, Peoria, IL; one granddaughter, Abigail Blanks; several cherished nieces and nephews.
