On July 24, 2022, one day after celebrating her 87th birthday with family, Karen Ruth Maddox (nee Vickery) joined her husband Gary Lee Maddox. Over her lifetime, Karen deeply loved her family, neighbors, friends, church members, BSF, and Johns Hopkins University registrar staff and students, and expressed her appreciation for life through art. Karen was born in Montgomery, Pennsylvania to her late parents Ruth Engaborg Carlson and Norman Weale Vickery. She is survived by her four children Richard and his wife Kathy, Sherri Joyce, Douglas and his wife Anne, and David; loving grandchildren Kyle and his wife Gabby, Ryan and his wife Joanna, Lauren and her husband Matt, and Alison Maddox and her fiancée Liam; Trevor and Kelsey Joyce, and Elizabeth, Douglas Jr. and Evan Maddox; also survived by her dear sister Norma Miller; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Friends may visit Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home 6500 York Rd on Thursday, August 4, from 4-7:30PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 7308 York Road, Towson, MD 21204 on Friday August 5 at 11AM. Memorials in her name may be made to Central Presbyterian Church.
