Joyce Ann Knight passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the beautiful age of 70. She was born on June 1, 1952 to the late Mitchell Gross Sr. and Ethel Mae Bowser Gross. She was brought up in the Catholic Faith and later was baptized by Rev. Emil Dean Mitchell Sr. She was a member of New Zion Christian Center. She graduated from Cypress Grove High School located in Lutcher, Louisiana and earned a degree from Delgado community college in New Orleans, Louisiana as a Medical Transcriptionist. Joyce retired from Charity Hospital after 30 years of service developing many lifelong friends during her employment (Verita Barra, Mary Bridges, and Beverly Nelson – Baloney). After her retirement, she also served as a commissioner and substitute teacher in her beloved parish. Joyce worked in security for many years and even authored her own Book, “Joyce Knight’s Inspirational Messages. Joyce was united in Marriage to Claude Issac Knight Jr. for over 30 years. To this union, they were blessed with 3 children: Claude Knight III, Quentella Knight, and Janique Knight. Her loving memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Floyd Tuesno, Kaitlyn Knight, Macy Knight, Terrimeeka Albert, and Qyenka Albert; siblings: Lorraine Victor of Lutcher,LA, Linda Walters (Clarence) of Paulina, LA, Janet Joseph (Edward) of Lutcher, LA, Mitchell Gross Jr. of Lutcher, LA and Gloria Gross of Convent, LA; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jeffery Allen, Linda Shorty (Edward Sr.), Beverly Reynauld (late Joseph), Craig Knight, Elliot Knight, (Gloria), Roselyn, Anderson (Michael), Desiree Allen, Gerald Knight (Leslie) and Cecil Knight, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Claude Knight Jr.; parents: Ethel Mae Gross and Mitchell Gross Sr.; sisters: Audrey Mae Michael, Ruby Lee Rixner, and Anissa Allen; brother: Gregory Gross; grandson: Myron Darell Mills Jr.; daughter-in-law Nicole Knight; two brothers-in-law, nine uncles and nine aunts. A celebration of life honoring Joyce Knight will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at King Solomon Baptist Church, 2385 N. Courseault St., Lutcher, LA 70071. Visitation will be held from 8am until the start of the service at 10am. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, 2130 Rectory St., Paulina, LA 70763.
