John’s Obituary John Owen Boe, 94 of La Crosse passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse County on January 10, 1928, to Racine and Anna (Ronnie) Boe. John served in the United States Army from 1945 until his discharge in 1948. Upon his return to La Crosse, John worked as a self-employed carpenter his entire career. John was very generous with his time and enjoyed helping people, especially remodeling houses. He also spent endless hours helping to build Kid’s Coulee in Myrick Park. His greatest passions were writing (2 books) and reading everything in sight. John was the last surviving of nine children in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Thelma Vold, Rose Brunka, Frances Gantenbein, Edna Anderson, Betty Davidson and Jeanette Robinson; two brothers, Ron and Russell Boe; along with six brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Thank you to all his care providers over the last few years and to the staff at Bethany St. Joe’s for making his last few months comfortable. It was very appreciated. In keeping with John’s wishes, his body was donated to the University of Wisconsin for research. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Read More
