Obituary John “Jake” Whitten, 83, of Acworth, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. Funeral services will be held, 2:00pm Wednesday afternoon in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Cartersville, GA. Jake worked for 17 years at Coats & Clark and he retired from Print Street Technologies but was very active after his retirement. He loved spending time with and taking care of his family. Jake could always be found at the local flea market, Walmart or in the yard cutting grass. He loved all his and all of the neighborhood animals. Jake’s most joy in life came from taking care of his beloved wife Martha by making her muffins in the morning. Jake was a member of Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lee & Alice Darnell Whitten and daughter Tina Boyd. Jake is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Whitten; children, Jeff (Karen) Prince, Joey (Linda) Prince, Jerry (Betty) Prince, Jamie (Buster) Morrison, Johnny (Danielle) Whitten and Jimmy Whitten (friend Tira); sisters, Elizabeth Palmer, Betty Mathis and Linda (Billy Joe) Martin22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00. Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
