Obituary A funeral service for John Henry Brown, 89, of Craft, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Bro. David Smith officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville. Mr. Brown passed away in Jacksonville on November 24, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born May 22, 1933, to Carl Baxter and Legonia Blanche Ranney in Dunkirk, New York. He owned and operated J&J Siding in Craft. John’s hobbies were carpentry and woodworking. He worked in construction trades all his working life. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and old westerns on TV. John was a faithful member of Craft Baptist Church for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Brown and Clyde Brown, Jr.; one sister, Pearl Fuller; and three children, Lyn, Michelle, and John. Those left to cherish John’s memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Joyce Brown of Craft; daughter, Teresa Devine of Austin; son, Jeff Brewer and wife Sheila of Lake Charles; sister, Helen Snyder of PA; and very close friends, Lora Helm and Jean and Paul Galyean. He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jeff Brewer, Ethan Lippold, Larry White, Mike Warren, Perry Morgan, and Scott Alexander. The family is grateful for the tender care given to John by Choice Hospice.
