John E. “Butch” Duff, 74, of Newport, passed away at home on Sunday, November 20, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha; parents-in-law, Chester and Mariam Schmegal; sister, Lucy (Roger) Parpart; sister-in-law, Sheryl Duff; and niece, Melissa Crock. Butch will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Penny; sons, John C. (Beth) and Nicholas (Nicole); grandchildren, Desmond and Ivy; siblings, Michael, Laurie Bromen, and Dennis; brothers-in-law, Paul (Twyla) and Matthew (Genine) Schmegal; and other family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 29 at 10:30 AM with visitation beginning at 9 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park. Private Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
