Joan M. Aker, 65, died Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was the best friend and beloved wife of Dwayne B. Aker. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Priscilla (Anderson) Metivier. Joan had been employed as a computer analyst for G Tech in the lottery commission. She also worked for Target as a customer service representative. She and her husband, Dwayne, were active with Friends of Animals in Need and the Trinity Assembly of God in Johnston. She was the loving mother of Isabella Jubinville and the devoted grandmother of Dylan Jubinville. She was a sister of Charles Metivier, Eileen Elderkin, Jeanne Bradford, the late Richard Metivier and Paul Metivier. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2-4pm with a funeral service at 4pm in the Trinity Assembly of God, 2119 Hartford Ave., Johnston, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations to Friends of Animals in Need, 105 Narragansett St., North Kingstown, RI 02852 would be appreciated.
