Our beloved mother, Joan A. Jenkin, earns a five-star review for eighty-seven years well-lived. On Monday morning, November 28, Joan whispered to her daughter, Susan, “I’m going to pass today. It’s like walking into another room.” True to her word, she entered that room later that night. Born in 1935 to Ada and Myrddn Reese of Scranton, Joan graduated from Factoryville High School. As a young widow with two children, she attended Lock Haven State College. Joan was class. Her generous spirit, fierce determination, strong mindedness, quick wit, intelligence, and strong faith are known by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed playing bridge, Mah Jong, and Scrabble; balancing her checkbook without a calculator; and reading good books (especially the Russian novelists). She was known for her love of houses, which inspired her successful real estate career and the launch of her company, Village Properties; and for her love of all creatures, great and small, especially dogs. Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, David P. Campbell in 1959, and her second husband, William E. Jenkin, in 2011. She is survived by her children: Geoffrey Campbell; Dr. Susan Campbell Bartoletti (Joseph); Daniel Jenkin (companion Ania); William Jenkin, Jr. (Heather); Ginger Jenkin Pratico (Michael); grandchildren Brandy Bartoletti Rava (Richard), Joseph Bartoletti Jr. (Lyndsay); Amanda, Robert, and Paige Jenkin; Keelin, Ada, and Tommy Pratico; and great-grandchildren Alia, Rocco, and Mia Rava, and Giulio Bartoletti. Also surviving is a brother, Dr. Robert Reese (Sandy). Our mother loved fun. You can honor her memory by heeding her favorite advice: “If you don’t have fun, it’s your own fault.” Our mother chose a private family gathering. The family thanks Allied Services Hospice for their kindness and good care. Cremation services were provided by the Miller-Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton. Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Joan A Jenkin October 23 1935 November 28 2022.
