View Tribute Book In loving memory of Jimmy Neil Barber who unexpectedly passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at the age of 65. A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be missed but never forgotten, as he left a legacy of love and kindness. Jimmy Neil Barber was born on December 22, 1956, in Lubbock, Texas, to Ruby Smith and Marion (Bud) Jones Barber. At the age of 3 years old, they moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and settled in Oak Cliff where he attended Bryan Adams High School. On February 11, 1975, he officially joined the Air Force as a Disaster Preparedness Officer. After his honorable discharge in April 23,1976, he earned his Paralegal Certification through the National Association of Legal Assistants. Through hard work and dedication to the law, he quickly became a highly sought after C.P. (Certified Paralegal) throughout the United States. He worked at several prominent law firms and had several articles published in the Flight line Journal, Paralegal report, and the Utah Journal of legal magazines. He often spoke at legal conferences and was an advisor to several organizations throughout his career. Jimmy was admired by his colleagues and even after his retirement he was frequently called upon to aid with ligation, mediation, and corporate negotiation cases. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Fraternal organization, which he held close to his to his heart, as him and his father would enjoy the Fraternity together. In 2006 Jimmy opened his own paralegal and notary business with his wife, Silvia Barber which provided him a work/life balance that he so desperately needed. This venture would allow him to combine his love of the law and his family. During this time Jimmy was able to share his passion of the law with his son Neil. He was able to work on several cases with Neil and wife, Silvia. When he was not practicing law, he enjoyed his free time, by taking trips with the family. He loved to sight see and travel. Which is something he passed down to all his children. His favorite place to travel was Las Vegas, where he married the love of his life. They enjoyed watching the Las Vegas shows and taking a lighthearted risk at the tables. Silvia would say Jimmy was the brains of the relationship and Silvia would make it happen. Jimmy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, even when the Cowboys were playing like Cowgirls. He would still watch the game and sometimes squeeze in a nap. He will be deeply missed, but we are able to find comfort that he is no longer in pain and is in heaven with those that have passed before him. Those that passed are his parents (Ruby Smith Gray, Maron “Bud” Barber), brother (Bobby Barber), grandson (Landon Barber) and several other family members. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of over 40 years, Silvia and 3 wonderful children, Jimmy Neil Barber II of Hurst, Texas. Ashley McIntire of Lehi, Utah with husband Scott McIntire, and Jennifer Boatner of Springtown, Texas with husband Jeremy Boatner. He leaves be hide 6 grandchildren Trevor and Preston Collins, Maya and Hudson Boatner, Zoey, and Denver Barber, along with many other relatives.
