Jessie’s Obituary Jessie F. (Drake) Showalter, 88, went to be with her Savior on November 27, 2022. She was born to William L. and Ella M. (Dial) Kramel of Blackwater, MO, the 8th of 10 children. Jessie was married to Rex Drake for 28 years. He passed in 1982. She remarried to Ray Showalter for 20 years. He passed in 2011. Jessie was a beautician and owner of Larkland Beauty Salon for many years as well as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You could always find her busy in the kitchen, working in her yard, or playing with her grandchildren. Jessie was a great cook and known for her mashed potatoes as well as delicious desserts. She loved to pay cards with her sister and enjoyed annual fishing trips to Roaring River with her family. Jessie was a long-time member of Temple Baptist and New Hope Baptist Churches. Survivors include: her children, Terri (Danny) Kelsey of Dickinson, TX, Daniel (Karen) Drake of Hutchinson, Kim Drake of Salina, Stephen (Rowena) Drake of Joplin, MO; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, William Lee (Eleanor) Kramel, Bob Kramel, and Emil (Kathy) Kramel. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Rex Drake and Ray Showalter; grandson, Cameron Bookout; 4 sisters; and 1 brother. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Harold Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it will be in her obituary on the funeral home website. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
