Jeremy Wade Altizer, 46, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022. Jeremy was born on December 19, 1975 in Richlands and was the son of the late Joseph W. “Joe Bill” Altizer and Priscilla Altizer Russ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Stefanie Likens-Altizer and brother, Jeffrey Wayne Altizer. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph W. Altizer II (Joey) and wife Tracy of Roanoke, VA; John W. Altizer and wife Oyuna of Macau, China; nieces and nephews Kaelie, Hannah, Bobby, Johnny and Priscilla. And last but not least, his lifelong friend George Kamer and his chickens. Jeremy graduated in 1993 from Richlands High School where he was a member of the wrestling team and JV baseball team. His family will fondly remember and miss his goofy personality and sense of humor. He was a person with a huge heart, a kind soul, and a soft welcoming smile. To some he was a fiercely loyal friend and was always willing to go the extra mile to assist them if in need. Jeremy had an oversized soft spot for animals, especially dogs and his long time “best girl Gabby.” The family would like to thank and honor the dedicated staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center and special lifetime friend and coach Rev. Rick Blevins for their amazing care and love. Substance abuse and addiction is an illness that impacts many. It requires help to fight and overcome. The family hopes that if anyone reading this is in need, you will please seek help. You are not alone. We encourage you to reach out. For that reason, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Jeremy’s memory be made to Cumberland Mountain Community Services Board and designated for Substance Abuse Programs in the hope that others may find the help they need to overcome their own addictions. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
