Smith-Reda, a long-time resident of Oak Park, died Wednesday, the 9th of August at Central Baptist Village in Norridge. While her stay there was very short, she was well cared for as she transitioned to her new life. Born to Andrew Perry and Wanda Reis on September 22, 1929 in Chicago IL, Jenny was the 2nd of 2 girls and the mother to eight. On May 6, 1950 she was married to Bernard M. Smith until his death on January 10, 1976. Always the resilient woman, she continued to raise five of her eight children with grace and love. On June 30, 1995 she married William Reda and while short, was his wife until his death on February 10, 1997, gaining another 4 children. Jenny worked for many years at Oak Park River Forest High School and then became a realtor in Oak Park, a career she loved and worked well into her 80’s. She enjoyed cards, bowling, puzzles but most of all the big family parties filled with laughter and love. She was a long time member of St. Edmunds, even getting involved with the social committee in her 80’s. She is survived by 7 of her eight children and 4 step children: Eileen (Michael) Smith Sanfilippo, Patricia (Sam) Smith-Calascibetta, Karen (Jerry Green) Smiechowski, Jean (Jack) Smith, Joan (Peter) Smith Harmon, John (Tracey) Smith and Michael (Julianna) Smith and Patricia Reda-Denofrio, Mary (William) Wilson, Debora Reda, William (Celeste) Reda. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas (Denise) Smith. Her great love for her family will live on in everyone of her 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to the Central Baptist Village 4747 N. Canfield Ave Norridge IL 60706 Peterson-Bassi Chapels has been entrusted with arrangements. Jenny will be lying in state at St. Edmunds Catholic Church on Monday August 15, 2022 from 10:00a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 11:00a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. “Let us not look for you only in memory where we would grow lonely without you.
