Jennifer Frances Wallace (née McBride) 1964-2022 passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2022, after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. She spent her life in service to others, be it educating Cape May County’s youth or ensuring visitors had the “Cape May experience” that kept her here her entire adult life. Born in Glenside, PA, Jennifer moved to Cape May with her seven brothers and sisters in Junior High. The fifth born of Charlie and Shirley McBride (little kid rule!), Jennifer quickly made the beach her home, swimming for Lower Cape May Regional High School, waitressing at Uncle Bills, and spending any free time with her feet in the sand. A classically trained pianist, Jennifer spent her college years mastering Mozart and Beethoven while researching the neural pathways of the brain. Not able to stay away from Cape May, Jennifer returned where she met and married the love of her life, Jerry, and the two spent nearly four decades together. After beginning her career as an educator at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Jennifer realized her passion for early childhood education and went on to open a preschool, The Kinder Garden, where she educated hundreds of Cape May County’s children for over a decade. She raised two children of her own, Caitlin and Brendan, instilling in them the value of hard work, ambition, and the importance of giving their all. Jennifer spent the later part of her career in hospitality working hard to create experiences for visitors that would become lifelong memories. In her free time, Jennifer enjoyed everything from crocheting and creative writing to playing videogames with her son where she was proud to have gotten her white mage and three other in-game characters to their highest possible level. She was an avid fisherman and was extremely proud of the nine and one-half foot, 188lb blue shark she caught on a high school fishing trip. Her diagnosis brought her closer to her children and her siblings where she taught them the important lesson of facing life’s toughest battles with both strength and grace. She is survived by her husband Jerry, her daughter Caitlin (Jim) Harper of Cheyenne, Wyoming, her son Brendan of Cape May, newborn grandson Phineas James Harper, siblings Pat (Pam) McBride, Kathy (Mike) Moran, Jim (Vicki) McBride, Brendan McBride, Ellen McBride and many loved nieces and nephews. May she always be remembered for the courage with which she faced adversity, her unrelenting work ethic, and her love of learning anything and everything. Funeral services are being held privately.
