Obituary James Phillip Marshall, Sr., 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. James was born in Kuttawa, Kentucky on June 12, 1934 to the late Doyle Marshall and Flossie Elizabeth (Byrd) Riley. He worked as a meat cutter for Farm Boy Meats for 40 years, working until two days of his passing. James enjoyed singing, riding motorcycles, auctions and horse racing. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. James will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed greatly. James is survived by his children, James Marshall, Jr. (Tammy) of Mount Vernon, IN, Carol Stanley (Steven) of Decatur, IL, Liz Robling of Corydon, KY, Phyllis Sikes of TN, Ricky Marshall of Decatur, IL, Kathy Cooley of Decatur, IL and Donna Whinholtz of Decatur, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Kelly Marshall; his daughter, Margaret Gibson; his parents; and siblings, Margaret Enos, Doyle Marshall, Jr., Robert Marshall and Jessie Marshall; and his companion of 12 years, Betty Joest. A celebration of James’ life will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Jim Weihrauch officiating. Burial will be held at Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Indiana at a later date. Friends may visit from 4:00 pm service time on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Browning Funeral Home.
