James’ Obituary James Leslie Freeland, 80, of Denton (Robson Ranch) Texas, passed into God’s hands the evening of December 27, 2022 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Jim was born December 4, 1942 in Marion County, West Virginia to James and Doris Freeland. Jim was married to Judy Headley Freeland on August 20, 1966 for 54 years before she preceded him in death on October 13, 2020. Together they had two daughters and enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. They loved their dogs and always had an ongoing project at the house to keep them busy, and were devoted to being actively involved with their grandchildren. He was lovingly known as Poppa to his grandchildren. Jim graduated from the University of Akron, then was drafted to the US Army from 1966-1969, graduating from Officer Candidate School. Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned a Bronze Star for his actions. Jim worked in the banking industry for over 40 years in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Upon retirement, he went on to volunteer and work at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois for eight years as a volunteer, concierge, and to serve on the Patient & Family Advisory Committee and US Military Veteran’s Program. Upon his retirement from his second career. In 2020 is when Jim met Elizabeth and they fell in love and married and traveled the world together. The last two years they were inseparable, playing golf, being captain and commissioner of the Bocce team and bringing his team to second place in the finals. It was one of the happiest times in his life. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth, daughter Janet Wright of Northlake, TX, her husband, Brian, and son, Braden; his daughter Jennifer Corman of Middleton, WI, her husband, Mark, daughters, Elle and Claire, and son, Bennett; and sister Patricia Corl of Bryn Mawr, PA, and husband, Dick. Friends and family are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse on Sunday 1/8 from 2-4 PM.
