Obituary Hung Chee (H.C.) Tom, age 100, of Huntsville, Alabama peacefully passed away on November 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Kainuma Tom, in January 2020 and their only child, Richard F. Tom, in April 2015. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Hung Chee was a member of the “Greatest Generation” as well as a true patriot proudly serving in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) during the Second World War from 1944-1946 and the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1951-1955. In 1957, at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, he graduated magna cum laude with a BS degree in Aeronautics. He retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal in December 1982. He and Peggy were inseparable during their 55 years of marriage and enjoyed traveling, Tai Chi exercises, being greeters at their church, Holmes Street United Methodist Church, as well as volunteering with Friends of the Library, delivering Meals on Wheels, participating in the Senior Center activities, especially line dancing, and with numerous other community outreach opportunities. They generously gave their time and money without expecting recognition or anything in return. He will be greatly missed by his extended family members as well as his friends. He will be interred at Huntsville Memorial Gardens with a private family service. Any memorials can be made to The Richard F. Tom Foundation (www.richardtomfoundation.com).
