Howard W. Cutrer, age 95, of Eaton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. He was born November 8, 1927 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late William Washington and Eva Effie (Wall) Cutrer. He lived in both Natalbany and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he attended school. Howard was a U.S. Navy veteran that served during WWII in the boiler room on the USS Jeffers for the majority of his service. He married the love of his life, the late Marian Rose Schumacher, on June 20, 1953, after a trip with a Navy friend to visit Zanesville, Ohio where he met her. Howard and Marian resided in Zanesville while he worked at the Burnham Corporation and studied at Meredith College where he received his diploma in accounting. They moved to Eaton, Ohio in 1962, and he worked in accounting at Avco in Richmond, Indiana until he acquired a job in accounting at Dayton Flexible Products / Baxter Corporation in Eaton. He worked approximately 20 years at Baxter and retired as an Accountant Payroll Supervisor. He was a member and former organist of First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, Ohio, and at the same time he supported the local Trucker’s Christian Chapel Ministry for more than 26 years. Also, Howard was as an avid golfer, scoring two hole-in-ones. He followed college football for both OSU and LSU as well as Cincinnati Reds baseball. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Paula K. Cutrer; brothers Edward G. Cutrer and William Washington Cutrer Jr.; and sister Alice C. “Shadow” Digirolamo. He is survived by his son Howard Douglas (Debbie) Cutrer; grandson Christopher A. (Kate) Cutrer; great granddaughter Carly M. Cutrer; brother Robert Marion Cutrer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 11:00 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria, Ohio.
