Obituary Hazel Pellerin Guidry, 88, of Youngsville, LA, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 29, 2022, after a battle with cancer. Hazel was born on December 9, 1933, to parents Theodore Pellerin and Edith Trahan. Hazel was the youngest of four siblings and dedicated her life to serving others in their times of need. Living in Southwest Louisiana throughout her life, Hazel worked in both the finance and banking industries. She met her husband, Richard Guidry, when working in finance and the two were married in Broussard, LA. Hazel and Richard had two children, Jennifer Ann Guidry Gittinger and Kevin Charles Guidry. Hazel enjoyed serving and supporting others throughout her life. As an outstanding cook and a consummate caretaker; Hazel’s home was one where her friends and family gathered to feel cared for and loved. After retiring from the finance and banking industries, Hazel devoted her life to serving others as a caretaker for elderly and terminally ill individuals. She saw this role as a calling and worked to ensure that she cared for those she served as she would her own family. Referred to as Mom Haze by those who love her, Hazel was known for her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She demonstrated her love by caring for those who needed her and feeding anyone when they visited. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Eula Bodoin, Wilson Pellerin, and Ovide Pellerin; and her granddaughter Lauren Mackenzie Guidry. Hazel is survived by her two children, Jennifer Ann Guidry Giittinger (Nick Gittinger) and Kevin Charles Guidry; her four grandchildren, Ashley McDonald (Casey McDonald), Kathryn Grimble (Steven Grimble), Myka Ferguson (Travis Ferguson), and Holden Guidry; and her eight great-grandchildren Collin Thibodeaux, Tanner Grimble, Carsyn McDonald, Carolyn McDonald, Knox Ferguson, Nixon Grimble, and Sloane Ferguson. Hazel’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Seth Porche and Melissa Vital from Hospice of Acadiana who helped to care for Hazel in her final weeks. Family and friends are invited to attend Memorial Service at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory located at 108 Hardware Rd. in Broussard on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, for 11 AM.
