View Tribute Book Harold Robert Wenkel Sterling, Michigan Harold Robert Wenkel, 84, left for his heavenly home on November 10, 2022. He was born on October 16, 1938 to Caroline (Krause) & Frederick Wenkel in Standish, Michigan and married his wife Annabelle Hilyard on February 15, 1964 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Standish. For the next 26 years, they resided in Standish and raised their children, raised hogs, corn, sugar beets, navy bean seed, and rye on their farm. He was involved in 4-H, the Arenac County Fair, and FFA. In 1990, they left the farm, and purchased and renovated an old farm home near Sterling. Over their 50 years of marriage, he was recognized by the Michigan Pork Producers Association with the Master Pork Producer Award, awarded the honorary state FFA Degree. He retired from the Standish-Sterling Schools where he served as a custodian and was a fan of high school sports, was active in the Sunrise Tractor Club, a life member of the Sterling Sportsman Club and enjoyed gardening and camping. He was involved at Bethlehem Lutheran Church throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, daughter Pamela (Ladd) White of Sterling, son Michael of Washington, D.C., sister Eileen (Partlo) of Bay City, six grandchildren, Alyssa (Adam) Gulvas, Arika (Jonathan) Van Dam, Ashley (Alex) Schmidt, Arianna White (Sean Ancel), Abbie White (Jonathan Golimbieski) and Landon White (Tess Henderson), 8 great grand-children – Rori, Piper, Matthew, Cecelia, AvaGrace, Ethan, Major, and Ella, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded death by his parents, siblings – Velinda, Doris, Esther, Hersol, Clarence and Ernest, and great grand-daughter Lainey. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Standish, Michigan with Rev. Matthew T. Dent officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will greet family and friends Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 3pm until 8pm at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL. Standish, Michigan. Robert will lie in-state at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Monday, November 14, 2022 10 am until time of service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may make a memorial contribution to the wishes of the family.
