Gladys’ Obituary Stanwood – Gladys Snavley, 85, of Stanwood, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2022, after battling congestive heart and kidney failure. She was born March 27, 1937, in Stanwood, the eldest of 14 children to Wayne and Mamie (Dysard) Peacock, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1955. On November 5, 1955, Gladys married William “Billy Dean” Snavley, and together they made their home in the Morley-Stanwood area throughout their 49 years of marriage. Gladys will be remembered as a tough woman with the absolute best belly laugh who loved her very large family. She had a rough start to her young life, but she always found a way to make the best of things. She was quick to laugh, loved to dance, was a great cook, and will be missed by all who knew her. Gladys was preceded in death by the love of her life Bill in 2004. She is survived by six children, Ken (Tina) of Morley, Tony (Sue) of Big Rapids, Sam of Big Rapids, Pam (David) Marvel of Rodney, Randy (Karla) of Big Rapids, and Tina (Scott) Lackney of Big Rapids; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; four great greatgrandchildren; six sisters, Shirley, Sharron, Patti, Christy, Cathy and Rita; five brothers, Eugene, Dennis, David, Danny and Mike; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Letha, brothers Harland and Wayne. and grandson Benjamin. As you can imagine, she also leaves behinds a huge extended family and many friends and relatives who will have many colorful stories to share about this special woman. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with her nephew Elvis Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in the Van Gilder Cemetery in Big Rapids Township. Gladys’ family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 18, from 4-7 p.m., and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
