A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gerald Berzas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, in St. Peters Catholic Church, Pine Prairie, with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating. Interment will follow in Ortego Cemetery, Pine Prairie, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pine Prairie. Mr. Berzas, 79, of Pine Prairie, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 06, 2022, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Pine Prairie, LA. Gerald loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp in Simmesport. He was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed fixing things. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alphan and Lily Berzas; two brothers, Willard Berzas and Joseph Hernse Berzas; and two sisters, Sherry Chapman and Atteline Tate. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include two brothers, Terry Berzas of Pine Prairie, and Kelly Berzas of Pine Prairie; two sisters, Susan Bogard, and husband James, of Gray Point, and Verna Contreras of West Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pine Prairie, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Pine Prairie, at 8:00 a.m. until time of departure to the church.
