Gregory, age 94, a former Es County New Jersey Prosecutor, graduate of Seton Hall University and Law School, died on December 13, 2022, after struggling with the effects of several strokes. He was born July 8, 1928, to Ruth Howe Watkins and George W. Gregory, Sr. in Newark, New Jersey. George, who was known as Jack or Jackie to many, believed in education and hard work. He wore different career hats during his lifetime, including lawyer, educator and corporate executive. He was a learned man who was considered an intellectual and a philosopher by his peers and family. He would often hold court within the room of any event and talk for hours over good food and wine. And throughout his life, if he wasn’t working, you would find George reading, listening to Miles Davis or whizzing down a ski slope. George’s professional accomplishments were many, but he always said his greatest achievement was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Chapman, his four children from his first marriage, Ray Hollar Gregory, Jacqueline Gregory Langley, George Wayne Gregory, and Stacey L. Howell. He also says goodbye to eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. His entire family and his two cats, Moondance and Sundance will surely miss him.
