Gary Kozlowski, 80, of Rochester Hills, passed away on September 20th in Troy, Michigan. Gary Kozlowski was born in Hamtramck, MI to Woodrow and Janet Kozlowski on November 13, 1941. He spent his early years in Hamtramck until his family moved to Royal Oak. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy 1960 to 1964 and served aboard the USS Laffey. He worked reading meters for Consumers Power Company with his future brother-in-law, introducing him to the love of his life. He and Linda were married on July 1, 1967 and celebrated 55 wonderful years together. He discovered his love for programming and worked as a Systems Analyst for Kmart International Headquarters for over 20 years. After leaving Kmart, he moved to California and worked in IT at Ingraham Micro and TV Guide. Once he retired, he continued using and broadening his computer knowledge to volunteer with many organizations designing and maintaining websites. He served as a board member for his HOA and worked the polls at several elections. Gary was a devoted family man and everyone who knew him speaks of his kindness, helpfulness. He loved learning new things, science and history, trivia, comedy and was on multiple golf and bowling leagues. Gary was preceded in death by his parents (Janet and Woodrow) and stepmother (Blanche). Gary is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda; his daughter, Lori Kozlowski and her partner David Heaslip; his younger sister, Gail (John) Saenz; his grandchildren, Joseph and Jessie Heaslip; and cherished nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24th at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd., (4 blocks E of Woodward), Royal Oak from 12:00 to 7:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 5:00 pm, concluding with a military honors ceremony. Donations in his honor may be made to the USS Laffey Association
