Obituary A funeral service is scheduled for Freddie “Joe” Bolton, 78, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Bro. Eric Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Tecula Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Joe Bolton passed away on December 9, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1944, to L.M. and Wilma Elizabeth (Clark) Bolton in Jacksonville. He worked in the logging business for over 50 years and was a partner with his brothers at Jacksonville Logging and loved every minute of it. Joe served in the US Airforce during 1965-1968 and had an honorable discharge. Joe could usually be found surrounded by kids and grandkids. He loved nothing more than sitting on his back porch talking to his family. If he wasn’t in the deer stand, he could be found cheering for or yelling at the Dallas Cowboys. He taught his family many things in life, but his most important lessons weren’t taught with words but with quiet direction and by observing his hard work ethic. He was also a former member of the Sunset Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Troy Bolton, Jimmy Bolton, and David Bolton. Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife of 56 years, Shirley Bolton; sister, Emily Bolton of Jacksonville; daughters, Rena Smith and husband Oscar of Monroe, Connie Witt of Jacksonville, Stephanie Rhodes and husband Butch of Longview; and son, Kevin Bolton of Lumberton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber Beard and husband Matt, Lyndsey Douglas, Shelby Douglas, Taylor Smith, Cheyenne Sailors and husband Mason, Matthew Bolton and wife Shelbi, Colby George, Emilie George, McKinley Rhodes, Madison Rhodes, Jasper Bolton, and Hallie Bolton; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Pansy Bolton and Mary Lou Bolton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Donnal Bolton, Matthew Bolton, Colby George, Butch Rhodes, Oscar Smith, and Matt Beard. Read more
