Evelyn Marie Diddens, 96, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday December 3, 2022 at Walnut Acres in Freeport, IL. She was born November 17, 1926 in Shannon, IL, the daughter of Ervin and Katherine (Sturtevant) Plock. Evelyn married Alvin Diddens January 26, 1946 in German Valley, IL; he passed away September 12, 2010. Evelyn worked on the family farm for decades, JC Penney’s for 25 years, and also sold Avon for 35 years. Evelyn is survived by two sons, Gordon and Lynn (Ottenhausen) Diddens of Liberty Lake, WA and Doug and Candy (Untersee) Diddens of Freeport, IL; brother, Bob and Donna (Willemssen) of German Valley, IL; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Greenfield of Beverly MA, Kelly (Jason) Abair of Superior, CO, Chad (Janine) Diddens of San Antonio, TX, April (Jason) Fyok of German Valley, IL, and Meridith Diddens of San Jose, CA; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Gary Alvin Diddens and Jerry Lee Diddens; two sisters, Mae Stein and Betty Plock; and grandson, Adam Diddens. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday December 15, 2022 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Gavin Brandt officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
