Elwell M. Gross February 26, 1927 – September 22, 2022 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Elwell M. Gross, age 95, of Sewell, NJ, passed away on September 22, 2022. Born in Camden, New Jersey on February 26, 1927, Elwell grew up in the Pennsauken area and left Merchantville High School to proudly serve in the US Coast Guard during World War II. His favorite jobs were driving for Greyhound, serving on the Moorestown police force and working as a blacksmith in the 60’s and 70’s, following the circuit between Florida and New Jersey racetracks. He enjoyed cabinet making and other woodworking crafts in his later years. Loving father of Fay Kent (Joe), Christine Douthitt, Nancy Jean Smyth (the late Mark) and the late Penny Hoyt. Grandfather to Doug, the late Ryan, Chuck, Brian and Stephanie. Many thanks to everyone at The Landing of Washington Square who made his last years so enjoyable and to Samaritan Hospice of Voorhees for their compassion in his final days.
