View Tribute Book Elsie Marie Matherly, 86, of Danville, Virginia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Sovah Health in Danville. She was born April 3, 1936 in Danville, Virginia, to the late Eury E. Long and Lizzie Bell Long and was the last survivor of their six children. She worked as a waitress for many years, and also as a sales clerk for Barbee Fabrics. Elsie was a faithful member of the Tabernacle for over 40 years, where she attended with her late husband, Wilford, who predeceased her in November of 2017. She is survived by 5 children, Deborah M. Ferris (Malcolm), Wendy M. Page (Ed), Wilford A. (Andy) Matherly Jr., Nancy M. Moore (Adrian), and Susan M. Norman (Tony). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. One great-grandson, Blake Ryder Laughorn, predeceased her. Funeral Services will be held graveside only at Danville Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Adrian Moore officiating. The family will be available to receive friends following the graveside service at Danville Memorial Gardens.
