Ellen’s Obituary In loving memory of Ellen Devonda Stewart Richie born on August 19, 1945 in Tellico Plains, TN to the late Dave and Susie Freeman Stewart went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the age of 77. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter S. Richie; one son, Randall W. Richie; and one great-grandson, Lucas Hunter Lowman. Mrs. Richie was a faithful member of East Flat Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church family. She was a hard worker and was employed at Broyhill #3 as a sewer for over 30 years. Ellen was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Those left to cherish her memory include four children, Pamela Walsh and husband Gary, Michael Richie, Robert Richie, and Perry Richie and wife Bonnie, all of Lenoir; one daughter-in-law, Jessica Richie of Murphy; fifteen beloved grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at East Flat Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Billy Mitchell and Rev. Kenneth Poarch. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Stewart, Tim Stewart, Scott Rogers, Ronnie Hughes, David Hughes, Sonny Anderson, and William Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be numerous beloved members of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to East Flat Baptist Church, 426 Melrose St. SW, Lenoir, NC 28645 in care of Ray Greene.
