View Tribute Book Our dear mother Elizabeth “Liz” Thurman passed away October 18, 2022, at the age of 96 at her home, The Meridian, in Galveston, Texas. She was a dedicated mother who was always there when we needed her and was well loved by many extended family and friends Elizabeth was born September 15, 1926, the eldest of five to William and Silvia Turgeon in Laredo, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Robert L. Thurman; and her brothers, Edmond Turgeon and Jesse Turgeon. She is survived by her loving children, Katherine “Punkin” Thurman, Anthony Thurman, Sylvia Owens, Robert Thurman, and Frederick “Ricky” Thurman; her fifteen grandchildren; her thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mildred Menchaca and Lawrence Turgeon; and many loving relatives and friends. Elizabeth loved dancing, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. She was strong in her Catholic faith and now dances with the angels as she guards over us from Heaven.
