Scotia – Edwin William Hudson, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Born in Troy on July 8, 1933, he was the only child of the late Herbert and Lillian Cary Hudson. Edwin grew up in Watervliet and was a 1951 graduate of Watervliet High School. He received his Master’s in Education, but not until after serving his country as a member of the United States Navy. He worked at the family business; Poole’s Garage in Watervliet, until moving with his family to Scotia in 1964. He taught at Mount Pleasant School in Schenectady for many years, teaching Mechanical Engineering as well as some college courses for some of the advanced youth. In his free time and in his eventual retirement, Edwin enjoyed fly fishing, collecting and flying remote control airplanes, woodworking, and enjoying his summer breaks traveling around the country with his family in their camper. Edwin is survived by his children, Cynthia (Paul) Gaige of Scotia and William (Nancy) Hudson of Galway, his grandsons, Paul and Peter Sisler, and his great-grandchildren, Justin and Lily. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen (Poole) Hudson, who passed away in 2008. Edwin’s family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the staff Kingsway Arms Assisted Living Memory Care Unit for the quality care that was provided for him. A private graveside service was held with Edwin’s family as he was laid to eternal rest beside his loving wife at the Albany Rural Cemetery.
