Obituary Edwin Milton Martinez, age 93, born in Gallup, New Mexico and a member of the Pueblo of Laguna, New Mexico, passed away on February 21, 2022. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Vera (Cheromiah) Martinez; children, Lawrence Martinez and wife, Anna, Lynn Martinez, Karen Tachias and husband, Peter, Angela Zamora, and Yvonne Francis; thirty-seven grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Gina Jojola. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his sons, Edwin D. Martinez, Nevin F. Martinez, Curtis G. Martinez, Marvin P. Martinez, and Terrance M. Martinez. Mr. Martinez was a former Governor of the Pueblo of Laguna. He also served his community as the Superintendent of the 19 Pueblos as part of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was named Honorary Mayor of Albuquerque. Mr. Martinez served his country proudly in the United States Marines and Navy and medically discharged in 1953. A graveside service will be held with military honors at the Laguna Cemetery in Laguna, New Mexico on Saturday March 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Christopher Martinez, Kyle Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Bernie K.
