CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Edward Gibbs Tarr, Jr., 59, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 20, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia; son of the late Edward Gibbs Tarr, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jean Tarr of Castlewood, Virginia; fiancée, Kathy Justice of Castlewood, Virginia; two daughters, Samantha Banks and husband, Jonathan of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Morgan Jackson of Castlewood, Virginia; three sons, Hunter Tarr of Castlewood, Virginia, Drew Justice of Nickelsville, Virginia, and Seth Justice of Castlewood, Virginia; six grandchildren, Paisley Tarr, Piper Tarr, Samuel Banks, Keightley Banks, Brady Banks, and Lindy Justice; two sisters, Jeannie Peterson and husband, Albert of Castlewood, Virginia and Gwen Million and husband, David of Christiansburg, Virginia; one brother, Jerry Tarr of Castlewood, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Edward Gibbs Tarr, Jr. will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Travis Price officiating. Interment will follow in Guinn Family Cemetery on Eagles Nest Branch Road, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Banks, Albert Peterson, Drew Justice, Seth Justice, Ryan Jones, and David Jacobs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Sproles, Robbie Stevens, Johnny Couch, Doug Breeding, Travis Jackson, and David Million. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
