Edna T. Thomas, age 79, of Glade Spring, Virginia, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, December 23, 2022. She was born on January 6, 1943 to the late Emory and Nettie Mae Ruth Barlow. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Baker Thomas; brothers, Eugene Barlow, John Barlow, Elihu Barlow and Buster Barlow; sisters, Carrie Owens, Dorothy Widener and Minnie Faye Widener; grandson, Michael Hess; and son in law, Willie Hess. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Highway of Holiness Church in Glade Spring, VA. She enjoyed going to yard sales in her spare time. She is remembered for her outgoing personality. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Billy Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Alverta Hess, and Brenda Thomas; four grandchildren, Andy Wilcox, Sandra Prater, Eric Thomas and Megan Thomas; four great grandchildren, Peyton Prater, Lucas Prater, McKendra Prater and Braelynn Thomas; siblings, Margie Thomas and Ernie Barlow; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A gathering for friends and family will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Riverview Chapel in Garrett Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Tracy Puckett and friend Earl Thomas officiating. The committal service will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Bobby Thomas, Andy Wilcox, Eric Thomas, Cody Thomas, Tim Thomas, Mike Thomas, Mike Barlow, and Roy Barlow serving as pallbearers. Peyton Prater and Lucas Prater will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia and to the nurses at Valley Rehab for all the kind and compassionate care shown to Edna during her time of need.
