Edna Mae Flaherty, 80 of Saugerties died Sunday December 11, 2022 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 7, 1942 in the Bronx, New York she was the daughter of the late John and Edna Mae (McGrane) Flaherty. Edna worked for a period of time as a secretary in NYC, but then retired to raise her family in Shandaken, NY. She enjoyed countless hours gardening, canning, and cooking for her children and many friends. She loved all animals, wild and domestic, and would nickname the bears and foxes that lived near her home. Her fifteen grandchildren were her pride and joy, she adored every one of them. She is survived by her loving husband Frederick Schuetz who she met in 1963, her cat Sophie, six daughters; Susan Hoyt (Dale Cole), Jeanne Beck (Rafe), Krissy Madison (James), Cathy Johnsmeyer (Nelson), Tricia Langbein (Scott), Lauren Keane (Ed), grandchildren; Ciara, Megan, Delaney, Mason, Connor, Brooke, James, Paige, Greg, Ryan, Justin, Amanda, Daniel, Andrew and Brittany, four great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
