Doherty – Earl Robert Doherty, Jr., age 75, of Baldwin, Florida passed away on June 22, 2022, at St. Catherine Laboure Manor Nursing Home in Jacksonville. He was born in Los Angeles, California on May 11, 1947, to the late Earl Robert Doherty, Sr. and Dolores Brinkam Doherty. Earl relocated numerous times as a child as his father was in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Biloxi High School in Mississippi and shortly after met the love of his life, Vivian Carco while working at an amusement park. He joined the United States Navy and shortly after married his love, Vivian, on August 29, 1970. Earl was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and spent over 20 years in their Aviation Maintenance department until retiring in the early 1980’s. He was stationed at Meridian, MS, Bermuda Islands for 5 years, and lastly Jacksonville, FL. After retirement, Earl and Vivian made Baldwin their forever home. He enjoyed his time working at CCI, a government contract, but was known for hobby of collecting model airplanes and cars. More than anything, Earl enjoyed time with his family and making precious memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Doherty, Sr. and Dolores Brickham Doherty. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Vivian Emily Carco Doherty of Baldwin, FL; children, Kevin Doherty of Baldwin, FL, Alison (Thomas) Baker of Bryceville, FL, and Carrie Doherty of Baldwin, FL; brother, James (Nikki) Doherty of Arizona; sister, Linda (David) Barron of Illinois; two granddaughters, Kinleigh and Aubreigh; along with many extended family members and friends. A celebration of Earl’s Life will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Brandy Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Deryle Adkison officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honor will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at church.
