Obituary We are here to celebrate the life of Dorothy Jennette Blade-Wheeler A.K.A. Dot. Dorothy passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the age of 77. She was born to Evelyn Jenell Martin-Hardy and Leon Hardy (both deceased) on March 10, 1945 in Stovalle, Georgia. Where she grew up until she moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 9. Dot was an only child until she met the three women that became her lifelong sisters, Jacqueline, Prestella (both deceased) and Gwen who they leave to carry on their memories. She leaves to carry on her memory and to celebrate her life, her husband of 32 years, Otis Charles Wheeler “OC”; six children, Doris (Pookie), Anitra (Cherry), Cleveland (Nunie), Evelyn (Tiny), Demetrius (Mechie) and Shannon; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and her baby, “Denzel”, two aunts, Shirley in Columbia, Tennessee and Elmina in Lanham, Maryland; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Wheeler-Vandiver, a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and cousins. A host of nieces and nephews; her favorite niece and fishing buddy, Martha and her favorite nephew, that’s more like a son, Glenn. Dot was always the life of the party. She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, playing cards, games, entertaining, gardening, watching sports and her favorite of all, fishing. She was the biggest Browns, Indians and Cavs fan ever. She had the biggest heart if you were hungry, she’d feed you, if you needed shelter, she would open her home to you. Dot was such a proud Mom and Grandma. She loved bragging about her children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen. She would always say, “I have my own Queen Elizabeth”, “I have a grandson that is a mechanic and keeps my car in good running condition”, “I have my own private policeman bodyguard”, my granddaughters are college graduates one from Bowling Green and Xavier and one from Kent, matter of fact I have another granddaughter going to Kent now”. She would always pull out her tablet and show off all the pictures of her kids and grandkids with a big smile on her face. She would say “all my babies are special and smart”. Dot’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203. Her family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon.
