Doris Maxine Courtney, age 82, of Widener, Arkansas, died Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She had been in poor health for the past several years. Mrs. Courtney was born August 13, 1939, in Forrest City, and was the daughter of O’dell and Vycie Rawlison. She lived in St. Francis County most all of her life and graduated from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, with a BSN in nursing. She was a passionate nurse who worked in many different areas in the medical field for over forty years. She ended her nursing career as an instructor in the E.A.C.C. Forrest City Nursing Program. She loved teaching nursing and she loved her students. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Mrs. Courtney married Richard Dale Courtney in 1956, and he preceded her in death in 2021. She is survived by three children; Lisa Courtney Dalton of Madison, Vivian Courtney Chism of Jonesboro, and Ricky D. Courtney of Kensett, Arkansas, six sisters; Berniece Hall of Wynne, Joyce Lemons, Linda Brewer, and Sheila Rawlison, all of Forrest City, Priscilla Gracey of Garfield, Arkansas, and Marsha Edwards of Centerton, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Billy, Roger, Gary, and Kenneth Rawlison. Services for Mrs. Courtney will be held Graveside, 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
