Obituary of Donna J. Nelson Donna J. Nelson, 88, of 136 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 6:20 am Wednesday November 23, 2022, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 18, 1934, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late David W. and Avonelle Marie Helfrick Anderson. Donna was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before her retirement in 1993, she was an assistant manager for the New York State Off Track Betting for 19 years. In earlier years had worked for the former Jamestown Telephone Company for several years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who was very proud of her son’s many accomplishments and loved spending time with her family. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Richard W. Nelson, Sr. whom she married October 12, 1957, two sons, Richard W. (Amy) Nelson, Jr. of South Windsor, CT, Jeffrey M. (Patty) Nelson of Long Meadow, MA, two grandchildren, Vanessa R. Nelson, Alex R. Nelson both of South Windsor, CT, one step-grandchildren, Allie (Michael) Hoadley of Collinsville, CT, two step great grandchildren, Grace and Michael Hoadley and her brother, David W. Anderson, Jr of San Jose, CA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Patricia Williams, Jean Lindquist, Jane Anderson, and Judy Johnson. The Nelson family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative care for their compassionate care of Donna during her final days. Especially to Julie Nagel, Laurie Intihar and Amy Carmen. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
