View Tribute Book Donald (Don) Gene Shepherd of Plano, Texas, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. After a brief and sudden illness, he went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2022. Don was born April 5, 1935 in Apache, Oklahoma, to David and Zora Shepherd. Don spent his early years in Oklahoma before his family moved to Duncanville, Texas, in 1947. While attending Duncanville High School, he met his high school sweetheart, Hazel Ann Tanner. They married and celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary in April of this year. He never stopped pursuing his passion and purpose in life to honor and be the ultimate husband and provider to his wife Hazel. Don started his professional career in the early years of computing in the late 1950’s going on to found his own data processing service company in 1960. Over the next forty plus years he grew and diversified the companies to support a variety of industries including oil and gas and insurance related services. Don was an avid hunter enjoying over fifty-years on the same deer lease in Ozona, Texas. It was there that a lifetime of memories were made with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Hazel, son Rick Shepherd, son Zane Shepherd and wife Diane, grandson Cody Shepherd, granddaughter Joella Cummings and husband Larry, granddaughter Annie Getz and husband Carl, grandson Tanner Shepherd, granddaughter Laney Shepherd, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents David and Zora Shepherd, his brother Bobby, sister Betty, and daughter Michelle. Funeral Service is 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street, Duncanville, Texas 75116.
