Deon L Johnson January 10 1938 October 24 2022

January 10 1938 October 24 2022
Deon L. Johnson, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and brother left this earth life on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family. His illness came on quickly and with force. He was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT. Because of his fighting spirit he fought hard with many complications that were extremely painful and life-threatening. He was born in Beaver Dam, UT, on Jan. 10, 1938, to Floyd H. Johnson and Virginia L. Johnson. Deon’s mother passed away when he was a young boy and they moved to Logan. He spent a lot of time warming up pitchers at the ball park next to their home where he developed a talent and love for baseball. He was active throughout his young years in many sports. He held records in track and field and was scouted professionally for his baseball and basketball talents. As a senior in high school he was involved in an accident that changed his life forever. He was nearly taken home then but many miracles allowed him to stay. His dream of playing professional baseball was not possible after that. He worked hard to recover and overcome challenges that most would have given up on. He met the love of his life during this time, Helen Fullmer. Together they became and will always be known to everyone as “Deon and Helen” — forever one. They were married and sealed in the Logan Temple. Deon worked hard with his brothers to establish a successful drywall business, Northern Acoustics and Drywall. He mentored many of the young drywallers in the valley who respected his work ethic and kind heart. He was forced to retire before he was ready due to injuries sustained working in such a physical occupation. His son Lance took over and has continued to run a successful business. He was a friend to all he met and was a perfect example of perseverance, hard work and everlasting love. He taught us all that no matter what the world throws at you it’s important to throw a hug and a smile back. He was a genuine peacemaker throughout his life. He was cheerful, happy and a giant tease too. He would often scare people at random times and keep us all positive in life. He loved his Heavenly Father and Jesus and showed everyone he met an example of Christlike love. He enjoyed his time participating in callings with the youth and coaching many young men in various sports. He enjoyed many church callings throughout his life. His life was one of constant service. He loved the outdoors, snowmobiling and hunting. He has many trophies on his wall of his determination to learn to do those things with only three fingers on each hand. He served on the Providence City Council for two terms. About that time he suffered a severe heart attack that required a quadruple bypass and had a permanent pacemaker. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are going to be lost without him but the life he lived will give them strength. He is survived by his adoring wife Helen, son Lance (Cathy); his daughters Debbie (Kirt) Cutler, and Tina (Lynn) Simmons. He has 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, and his brother Cordell Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd and mother Virginia, sister Donna and (Vern) Otte, sister Beverly and (Nick) Burris, his brother Allen and (Jolyn) Johnson, sister Marilyn Mauchley and his brother Darwin Johnson and his great grandson Luca Deon Clemens. Viewing will be Friday the 28 at 6-8 pm at Allen Hall Mortuary on 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah. There will be a viewing on Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 and the funeral to follow at noon at the LDS church in Providence at 309 South Main. Interment will be at the Providence City Cemetery. The family would like to thank all friends and family for their love and prayers at this difficult time. To view services live click HERE
