Debra Lynn Billens, age 57, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, IN. She was born on March 24, 1965 in Illinios, the daughter of Charles and Anita Jacobson. Debra graduated from Calumet High School, Class of 1984. Debra worked in many different jobs during her life, including waitressing and cleaning. But her favorite job was being a homemaker in her home. She loved her family, often bringing people together over a game of skip-bo, and was an avid green-thumb. She grew a beautiful and well-adored flower garden every year full of colorful flowers. Debra loved 4th of July and other Holidays, ensuring that her home was the most cheerfully decorated for Christmas. Debra is survived by her life partner, James Bennett; children, David Billens (Lisa Sipkema) of Rensselaer, and Justin Billens of Merrillville; step-grandchildren, Landon Sipkema and Braylon Sipkema; and siblings, Ricky Jacobson, Dawn Uchman, Sherry Shirley, and Steven Jacobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anita Jacobson and Charles Jacobson; and her sister, Connie Recendez. Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer from 2:00 to 6:00 PM CT on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. A Funeral Service will follow immediately at Jackson Funeral Chapel at 6:00 PM CT. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
