March 7 1970 November 18 2022
David Wayne Brown, 52, passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Salisbury, NC, he was the son of the late Lawrence Brown and the late Jill Arquette Black. David worked at Slabco Co. in Travelers Rest where he was Warehouse Manager and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and attended Shiloh Baptist Church and more recently attended Washington Avenue Baptist Church. David was a friend to many and always called everyone “Buddy”. He was always available to help anyone with anything in their time of need. Courageous, Confident and Brave defined David’s character. His fight against cancer was something to be admired. Cancer did not scare him, he fought it with the strength of a tiger, always displaying courage and bravery. Cancer was David’s Goliath, and he defeated that ugly disease twice, always with the faith that God was leading him through the fire. Cancer may have won the war, but David won all the battles. David loved his family with a vengeance and their protection and well being was always his main concern, even at the end. His love for the Clemson Tigers was a close second to his family especially on Saturday afternoons during football season. He enjoyed the outdoors, the solitude of fishing, going to the mountains, the beach and also the casino. David is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Lynn Brown; children: Payton Thompson, Josh (Jessica) Richardson, Trent Thompson, Brooklyn (Steven) Thompson, Kimberli (Jokev) Gravely, Danielle (Drew) Brown, Zach Brown, Hunter Thompson, Haley Brown and Easton (Kim) Thompson; sister: Sandra (Mike) Wilson; stepfather: Rick Black; 21 grandchildren: Chaston, Cameron, Carlee, Keyshawn, Alyssa, Cassilyn, Braycen, Attycen, Blaiklyn, Ax, Nova, Bradley, Kayden, Adalynn, Tyler, Natalie, Annastyn, McKenna, Kade, Noah and Addy; special cousins: Goo, Scotty, Denny and Kenny along with many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Prisma Health Palliative Care for all their tender care and support especially Crystal, Val, Brianna, Valerie, Jerrica, and Corey.
