David H. Ward, of Kirkwood MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, at the age of 69. He was born on December 6, 1952 in St. Joseph MO to Rev. John and Charlene (Hartness) Ward. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Suzie on May 28, 1976 at Webster Groves First United Methodist Church, for 41 incredible years. A truly sweet and wonderful man, Dave was an active member and servant of Maplewood United Methodist Church. After retirement from the State of Missouri, he kept himself busy by volunteering at the Second Time Around Shop. He enjoyed his many field and stream trips with his buddies, the River Rats. Holidays with his grandchildren was another highlight of his life. While he will be deeply missed by many, his friends and family take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with Suzie who passed away June 27, 2017. He is survived by two sons: Rev. Bill O’Neal (Dawn) of Fayette, MO, their children Ashley and her daughter Lola, Jonathan and Grace; and Sean O’Neal, Esq. (Ambereen Sleemi MD) of Brooklyn, NY, their children, Zain, Laila and Yasmina. He also leaves behind his brothers, Stephan Ward (Tina), of Holiday, FL; Paul Ward (Susan) of Collinsville, OK; and Mark Ward (Linda) of East Alton, IL; and his sister in-law, Simone Dorman of Powder Springs, GA. Visitation December 22, 2022 at 11:00am followed with a Celebration of Life service at 12:00pm at Maplewood United Methodist Church, 7415 Flora Ave., Maplewood, MO 63143 with Rev. Kim Shirar presiding. A potluck supper will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maplewood United Methodist Church.
