David’s Obituary On Monday, April 25, 2022, David Greenlee Dickson, Jr., age 79, departed this earth while surrounded by loving family, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. David was born October 22, 1942 to the late David Dickson, Sr. and Vivian Smith Dickson. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lipford Dickson. Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Micola Dickson; one son, Marvis Dickson; two brothers, Joseph Lenwood Dickson (Cheryl) and Charles Dickson; two sisters, Marion Odessa Hendrix (Tyrone) and Rebecca Dickson Moore; nine grandchildren, Makara, Brianna, Marcus (Jorden), Faizon, Gracie, Madison, Maslyn, Zaylen and Zarianna; two great-grandchildren, Tileia and Kouver; along with a special cousin, Leonard “Brother” Dixon. In his youth, David actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America troops. He was a longtime member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Treasurer, and was a member of the Men’s Choir and Men’s Ministry. David was a vital part of the Lenoir and West End Community, as well as, WECO. David participated in the Forsyth County Food Pantry and he was on the Blue Ridge Community Action Board of Directors. David graduated from Freedom High School in 1961 and retired from the furniture industry. Aside from the love of his family, David’s pride and joy was his 1965 Chevrolet Impala. David loved cars, westerns, and boxing. David will truly be missed by all who loved him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Rev. James Ike Perkins presiding. A public viewing and receiving of friends will be held one-hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
