View Tribute Book David Anthony Diosdado Jr. known to his family and friends as DJ was called to eternal rest on December 13, 2022. DJ passed away at his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He had been battling an illness for over a year. DJ was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 28, 1979 to David Anthony Diosdado Sr. and Diana Flores (now Rodriguez). David and Diana played softball. This inspired DJ to play sports. He grew up playing sports and lettered in Varsity football and baseball. He graduated from Edison Highschool. He was known to all his highschool friends as the life of the party. He joined the Marines right out of highschool but his test results indicated the Navy was a better calling for him. Grandpa Diosdado as well as many of his great uncles were in the Navy or armed forces and Grandpa Diosdado would take DJ with him to his doctor’s visits at the VA. This inspired DJ to enlist in the military and to become a medic. David was a boats swain mate and Corpsman in the Navy. He was known to his Navy brothers as Boats or Dios. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor when 9/11 occurred and immediately was deployed on the USS Russell (DDG-59). He served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He loved his Navy shipmates Cody, Farmer, Grandpa, Chad, Lewis; there are too many to name. DJ was a proud father to his son David Anthony Diosdado III whom he loved dearly and shared a bond with over tacos, video games, and conspiracy theories. He was proud that Anthony was training for a career in the medical field like he did. DJ received his associates from the Kaplan school of medicine. DJ earned his LVN and was a phlebotomist. He could always get the hard sticks and would walk his nurses through procedures they were unfamiliar with. If there was an accident DJ would come to the rescue to offer his services before EMS arrived. He cared about people even though he himself was a hard and stubborn person to love. He loved hard in return. He was the friend that you could call if you needed something or if you just needed to talk. He always picked up the phone. He met many of his friends playing softball in San Antonio and in Albuquerque. He loved playing softball. He wasn’t great at running but he could place the ball well. DJ always had a YETI full of ice cold beer and sometimes fireball. He loved his YETIs so much people would joke he was sponsored by them. He loved throwing bags and playing cornhole. He was a die hard Cowboys, Spurs, Astros, and Longhorns (his sister Delicia’s alma mater) fan. He loved Texas, country music, and dancing. His favorite food was cheese. He would always say add extra cheese and then some more cheese and when you think that’s enough cheese add more. DJ also loved his Oakleys and all things veteran related. He was proud to have served his country and made every effort to let people know. DJ loved his cousins. They were like siblings to him. He taught his cousin David “Porky” and Stephanie “Peppers” Allen’s three girls how to walk. He loved them like his own daughters. He often would take his cousin Elena Jimenez’s kids to school and attend their cheerleading events. DJ loved his dog’s Smokey & Bandit, especially Bandit. He loved snuggling with him and teaching him new tricks. DJ loved going on road trips and all the adventures he had with his common law wife Nicole. He often would introduce her as his wife or “The Boss”. In the 4 short years they had together they shared so many interests, dreams, and goals including softball and moving to Albuquerque for his career and to North Carolina for her career. He was excited to be closer to his younger sister Delicia and her husband Seth although he did miss his son Anthony, Pops David/Step Mom Elise, and Mom Diana/Step Dad Richard immensely. He was ready to explore the East Coast but God had other plans. He loved you all dearly and would want you all to be happy and live your life to the fullest like he did. David Anthony Diosdado Jr. “DJ” is preceeded in death by his grandparents David Sanchez Diosdado & Lucia P. (Soto), and Grandfather George Flores Sr. DJ leaves behind his his grandmother Romana M. Flores (Pina), his father “Pops” Pastor David Anthony Diosdado Sr. & step mom Elise, mother “Mom” Diana Rodriguez (Flores) & step father Richard, his sister Delicia Diane Cushing & brother in law Joseph “Seth”, his wife Nicole Leigh Puente, son David Anthony Diosdado III aka Anthony, his dog’s Smokey Calvin & Bandit Marlin Spike Diosdado, as well as his step siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A special thank you to all the medical professionals at Wake Forest Baptist, Salisbury VA, Kernersville VA, Kirtland VA, Audie Murphy VA, and numerous specialists that helped extend his life.
