View Tribute Book LATHAM – David A. Placido, 96, died peacefully Sunday morning, October 23, 2022 at his home at King Thiel Apartments in Latham with his wife and family at his side. He was born in Watervliet on April 10, 1926, the son of the late Antonio and Raffaela DeBlasio Placido. Dave was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Dave was a US Army veteran of World War II serving his country from 1944-1946 with the 105th Light Artillery Division in Italy. He was employed by New York State for a brief time and later by the D&H Railway at the Colonie Yards for over 50 years as an electrician and machinist before retiring February 21, 1991. Dave and his wife have lived in Latham since 1950 and have been communicants of St. Ambrose Church for over 72 years. They both loved bowling and Dave enjoyed gardening around his home and trips to the casino. He is the beloved husband of Frances M. Palermo Placido whom he married in 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy. He was the brother of the late Thomas Mundipare, Dominick Placido, John Placido, Nicholas Placido, Mary Vecchione, Christine Suppa and Clara Romano. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Thursday, October 27th at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with a calling hour prior to the mass at church from 8:00-9:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
