Cynthia Marie Whitfield was born on May 24, 1942, in El Paso, TX, to Dorothea Wilhite. She was later adopted by her grandparents Marie Whitfield and Ervin Whitfield and was the only child. On May 12, 1967, she married Horace Whitfield. Combined, they were the parents of two children. Cynthia was a very hardworking and diligent business woman, who received her high school diploma from Jefferson High School in El Paso, Texas. For several decades she rose through the ranks in the banking industry, aiding in opening First City National Bank on Lee Trevino Drive, which is now Bank of America. She then began her second career at Aliviane Inc., a substance abuse rehabilitation center, as the head of Human Resources until her retirement in 2016. She was loving, patient, charismatic, and a historic groundbreaker. Cynthia was a true fashionista, beautiful inside and out, always ready to show her true diva nature through her impeccable style and jewelry collection. As the matriarch of the family, our beloved leader always kept a smile on our faces through her extreme wit and bubbly personality. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Roland Edward Whitfield. She is survived by her aunt, Mayme Avent, her daughter, Tracey Whitfield-Claytor, and her two granddaughters, Alexis Whitfield and Victoria Claytor. She had the spirit of understanding, peace, and generosity. Cynthia was a God-fearing woman who was well respected, lighting up and commanding any room she entered. She left an impression on every person she befriended or has known. There are no words to illustrate how much she will be truly missed by all. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
