Cornell Franklin Woods of Salem, Missouri was born January 16, 1934, to Thomas and Erma (Slovensky). He left from this life on Saturday August 20, 2022, at his home in Salem, Missouri at the age of 88 years. Cornell was united in marriage to Arlean Ross on March 8, 1958. To this Union two sons were born, Lyndell and Thomas Woods. Cornell and Arlean enjoyed 64 years of adventure and love. Their love for each other carried them along in life’s journey. Cornell proudly served his country in the United States Army. He done maintenance at the charcoal plant, and other businesses over his work history. When he was younger, he loved to hunt and fish. Later in life he just camped and stopped hunting and fishing. Tinkering with his lawn mower, looking at old farm implements and listening to gospel and bluegrass music was important but playing with his grandchildren was his most cherished time spent. Cornell and Arlean attended the distinguished Church of God in Salem, Missouri. Cornell is preceded in death by his Parents; Thomas and Erma Woods, father and mother-in-law Oscar and Ida Williams, sisters; Helen Woods, Matred Martin and husband Robert, brother Lloyd Woods, Brothers in law Clarence Williams and Charles Williams daughter in law Edie Woods. Those left to treasure his memory and continue his legacy are his loving wife Arlean of Salem, sons; Lyndell Woods Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Woods and friend Candi Capps Salem, grandchildren; Amanda Davis and husband Michael Las Vegas, Jennifer Stacy and husband Kevin Salem, Alisha Hosenfelt and husband Justin Fulton, Mackenzie Rogers and husband Blake Atlanta, great-grandchildren; Alene Glascock and husband Garrett, Gracie Hosenfelt and Cain Rogers Funeral services for Cornell Woods will be Thursday August 25, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Salem Chapel of James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor John Kinkade officiating. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s association. Cards are available at all James & Gahr Locations.
