Obituary of Connie Mae Pond Connie Mae Pond (June 26, 1958 – December 24, 2021) The family of Connie Mae Pond of Tully, NY is saddened to announce her passing on December 24, 2021 at the age of 63 following a brief and sudden illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her son John Pond of Tully and her parents John and Flora Pond of LaFayette. Connie is also survived by her sisters Sheree Scrano, Kim (Robert) Carter, Laurie (Mark) Ellsworth and Dee (Dan) Zajac as well as nieces and nephews Mark (Chrissy) Scrano, Fawn (Robert) Ford, Chris (Joni Brown) Connors, Brittney (Ryan) Trumble, Heather (Don Prine) Scrano, Jessica Ellsworth, Reilly Zajac and Josh Zajac plus five great nephews, three great nieces, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Connie is also survived by her friends – blessed with far too many to list and you know who you are – and her sweetheart Greg Scammell of LaFayette. Connie is a graduate of the LaFayette Central Schools class of 1976 and earned an Associates degree in math/science from Onondaga Community College. She worked for several years at Green Hills Farms and then for 34 years at Crouse Hospital as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She recently retired in September 2021 and had immediately begun enjoying retirement life and adventures with her friend Greg. Connie was loved for her larger than life personality. She was the loudest voice in the room, always dressed up for the occasion and her laughter was contagious. She took great pleasure in searching and finding items to complete her themed collections and possessions. We will remember her and honor her by continuing to enjoy her favorite things – waterfalls, movies (especially Gone with the Wind), trivia at the LaFayette Inn, Country Swagg performances, playing pitch and baking. One year her apple pie won first place in the LaFayette Apple Festival contest and her family and friends really enjoyed the pies she made during the practice baking period leading up to those October weekends. As we endeavor to move forward, we cherish the indelible mark she leaves on this world. She was resilient, selfless, generous, and inclusive to all. She loved her friends and large extended family and was known to do anything for anyone. There will be private services for the immediate family. A public celebration of life will be held at Stafford Memorial Park on June 26, 2022. Additional details will be shared by Connie’s family later this spring.
